This family saga from the 1880’s reminded me a little of Friendly Persuasion, woven through with a gentle humor and quiet faith even during tragic events. I was especially interested in the recounting of immigrating from the French/German region to Kansas. The journey seemed to hold solidly to what it might have been like for people in that era.
The characters are really likeable, and I love that it seems mainly to be told through the little brother’s eyes.
I’m glad to hear that this is the first of more to come!
